New Army Chief Has No Presence on Social Media: Report

iInter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa clarified on Thursday that the new Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif did not maintain any account on Facebook and Twitter reports PakSoldiers.

"COAS: Gen Raheel Sharif is not maintaining any twitter or facebook account." The ISPR director general said the army chief had no twitter or facebook accounts and all the accounts in his were fake.

"All accts (sic) in his name (are) fake and being reported," Major Gen Bajwa clarified in a twitter message on Thursday morning.

 

 

 

There are several unofficial Facebook pages and twitter accounts under the name of Gen Sharif and likes and followers of these accounts have increased significantly since his appointment as COAS late last month.

Mobilink to Introduce WhatsApp Based Mobile Services in Pakistan

WhatsAppVimpelCom Ltd. a leading global provider of telecommunications services and holding company of Mobilink PMCL, today announced a partnership with WhatsApp Inc., the operator of WhatsApp application and services, to deliver consumer offers based on the WhatsApp application and services for VimpelCom customers around the world.

The partnership with WhatsApp will enable Mobilink to provide enhanced internet communication services within its bundled tariff plans, and to drive mobile internet usage and revenues. Mobilink customers will enjoy innovative mobile messaging and social offers including full WhatsApp functionalities like group messaging, sharing pictures, video messages, voice messages, contacts and locations.

Commenting on the announcement Moied Javeed, Director Marketing Mobilink, said:  "Mobilink's partnership with WhatsApp is in line with Mobilink's consistent strategy of offering innovative solutions to our customers. We are confident that this platform will offer the best experience of mobile internet for our customers complementing their choice of using Pakistan's largest data network.''

This agreement will complement Mobilink's partnerships with Wikimedia, Google Play and Opera Software along with its partnership with Nokia to deliver better mobile services and web browsing for its consumers. The new innovative Mobilink and WhatsApp offers have also been launched in Bangladesh with other VimpelCom operators to follow in due course.

Auto Event by PakWheels Successfully Concluded

A two days auto event organized by PakWheels successfully concluded at the 2F2F Karting Track in Rawal Lake, Islamabad. Amidst Pakistan in spotlight for wrong reasons, the event portrayed a better image of the country in international media and it was also a perfect retreat for the citizens of the capital and adjoining areas.

PakWheels has a history of organizing some remarkable auto shows across Pakistan, but this was the first time in the country's history that the two days auto event was held, which welcomed 50,000 audience. There were many exiting activities including Karting championship in which drivers from 8 different companies participated. Moreover, movie enthusiasts enjoyed movie screenings. An auto show was also organized with many other interesting programs throughout the event.

PakWheels Director Suneel Sarfaraz Munj said, "At PakWheels, we are committed to bring more and more auto events for the passionate automobile enthusiasts of Pakistan. This year, we went step further and organized a 2 days auto festival, which included karting championship, auto show, movies montages, live music and a lot more. It was a complete entertainment festival for families and residents of the capital city.”

Amazingly, a cash prize of Rs.100, 000 was awarded to the winner Yasoor Mirza from APEX Company.  Owais from Pakwheels was the runner-up and received Rs. 50,000, while Rs. 25,000 was presented to the second runner-up. At the end of the ceremony, Hanif Bhatti, Founder of Pakwheels handed over the trophies to the winners. Notably, Shell Helix was the Platinum and Warid Glow was the Diamond partners of the event.
