In a blog post Internet security firm, Trustwave exposed that data was taken with the help of botnet, dubbed Pony. Trustwave said it had notified the sites and services hit prior to posting the blog entry. The team also found that 2.4% passwords are the weakest ones which shows that people tend to chose ease of access over the security and according to Security researcher, Graham Cluley, 30-40% of people use the same passwords on different websites, which they should never do.

Facebook highlighted that it wasn’t their fault that passwords got leaked, as the infected user computers are to be blamed. Facebook and other providers like Google provide login notifications and mobile code approvals to to prevent un-authorized usage.

In order to prevent your password being stolen it is advised to use a Firewall, don’t use the same password for all websites and always choose a strong password rather than something easy to remember.

In a latest move, two major WiMAX Broadband providers in the country — Wateen Qubee have announced to combine their wireless broadband network in Pakistan.

wateen-qubee

The transaction which is subject to the requisite corporate, regulatory and governmental approvals is targeted to be completed within the first half of year 2014.

With the formation of a new business, Wateen and Qubee intend to re-energize the wireless broadband market with planned investments of more than US$25 million for the improvement and expansion in coverage of the combined network of both companies as well as phased upgrade to 4G LTE Technology.

It is not clear that, either they are going to introduce a new brand name or will continue working with the same brands. After the successful formation, Wateen/Qubee will become the second largest broadband operator in the country and one of the two WiMAX operators.

It merits mentioning here that Qubee has also acquired the customer base from Mobilink Infinity, which wrapped up its operations recently. After the formation of new business with Wateen, there is hope that they can give a tough competition to PTCL — which currently holds the largest number of Broadband subscribers in the country.

Some people take care of their gadgets just like infants and some love to destroy them. There are some people who try drop tests or sink the shinny new gadgets in water to test their durability but Richard Ryan from Tech Assasin has a habit of destroying them with military grade weapons.
