Windows Phone Store Has Now More than 200,000 Apps

Posted: 17 Dec 2013 10:12 PM PST

The Windows Phone operating system started its journey in the year 2010, and in a short span of time it crossed the milestone of 200,000 apps. WP users always complained about the low number of available applications as compared to other mobile operating systems. To be honest it didn’t changed till now, though we have many apps in the store now but most of them are half baked and need lots of improvement.

Microsoft store now covers majority of key apps but they are not as good as they are on Android or iOS. Nonetheless Microsoft is working hard to take its Windows Phone Store to the next level, for this they have introduced carrier billing for developing markets. Windows Phone Store is currently available in 190 countries and 31 of them have carrier billing option including Pakistan.

Microsoft is also releasing $100 million worth of gift cards in 41 markets to make it easier for the users to buy apps, music and other items from the store.

The company predicts that the app gap between its platform and the competitors will close in the next year. For this it encourges you to develop apps and bring new ideas by using Windows Phone App Studio Beta tool. Lets hope this platform gets the attention more and more developers so WP users can enjoy all the apps which are available on Android and iOS.
