As the latest version of Google’s mobile operating system, Android 4.4 KitKat lowers the minimum RAM requirement to 512MB — making it available for the masses there’s a hope that low end smartphone users can also get a taste of chocolate.

The most popular Android smartphones manufacturer, Samsung has announced to release the KitKat upgrade for high end devices like Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 — but a leaked document shows that Samsung is also investigating to push this update to the medium and low end devices.

The list contains names like, Galaxy S4 mini, Galaxy S3 mini, Galaxy Ace 3, Galaxy S Advance, Galaxy Ace 2, Galaxy Core, Galaxy Fame and Galaxy Fresh. There are likely more devices on the list. But the question is — will these devices actually get the update?

coreThough Google has fine tuned its operating system to run it on devices with low hardware requirements but when combined with Samsung’s bloated TouchWiz UI, Google’s efforts will be undone.

Also the document says that company is investigating, so there is good chance that they will select a few devices from this list. That might include Galaxy S4 and S3 mini but others may have to rely only on custom ROMS.
