Facebook Chat now Shows If your Friends are Online from Desktop or Mobile Device Posted: 19 Nov 2013 12:12 AM PST Facebook is always trying something new to improve the user experience, this time its messaging system. The new Facebook chat lets you know not only which friends are online but whether they are from a computer or mobile device. This new feature will help users to better communicate, as previously it was a bit hard to determine if your friend is online from a mobile device or on desktop. Now Web • will mean that the person is currently on the desktop version of the site and Mobile • means that your friends is currently using Facebook or Messenger on their phones/tablets. Facebook already had a special feature for mobile users that shows a mobile icon to your friends if you are connected to Facebook but not active. It also provides information when the user was seen active — like 20 m means the person was active on messenger 20 minutes ago, but now may be he is offline. With the help of this new Web/Mobile feature you will know in a second that if a person is on mobile or using the web version via computer. This features is rolling out gradually and may not be available for all users. Currently only web version is out, but hopefully this feature will also be extended to mobile application.
