Huawei Ascend P6 to get Android KitKat, Octa-core version is also Confirmed

Posted: 17 Nov 2013 10:31 PM PST

Its no doubt that Huawei’s flagship device Ascend P6 turned out to be a huge success. Starting from the launch event in London and availability in Europe, Asia and other parts of the globe bundled with the nice looks did the magic.

As a Huawei user in Pakistan, my biggest concern is the software updates. Usually Huawei phones never get updates for the newer versions of Android, though bug fixes and other patches are pushed regularly but no major OS upgrade. That’s why many users including me were worried that how soon Ascend P6 will get the Android Jelly Bean 4.3 upgrade? But here is the good news, Huawei has decided to skip 4.3 and directly going directly for 4.4 KitKat in January next year.

Huawei announced this news on the Chinese site Baidu that starting from January next year Ascend P6 owners will get Android 4.4 KitKat treatment with EmotionUI 2.0 over it (Which is currently in closed beta).

Other than the software update company is trying to rectify the errors in the Ascend P6. Huawei’s president XuXin Quan has announced that they are working on Ascend P6 S, that will be almost identical to the current flagship device but its now packed with an octa-core processor. We all knew that Huawei is working on a new chipset to replace the current K3V2. The new processor is equipped with a revolutionary cooling technology which enables the processor to auto-charge when running at very high temperatures while cooling the processor as well. This will provide longer standby time to the device.

Other specifications of the new P6 S are still unknown but its likely to have the same 2GB RAM, may be the built in memory bumped to 16GB and Android KitKat out the box.

We will let you know the availability and pricing of this new device in Pakistan very soon so keep checking back.

The 1 million sales in 1 day makes it the fastest selling PlayStation console yet, beating the record of PlayStation 2 launch in Japan.

Some PS4 users have reported hardware issues with initial units, including faulty HDMI output ports and boot failures. Sony said the hardware problems appeared to be "isolated incidents," limited to a very small number of consoles.

Sony’s rival Microsoft is also set to launch its Xbox One on Friday, November 22. Xbox is a little costly but it is sold with Kinect voice and motion controllers. So lets see how does it perform as compared to PS4.
