Some of you may know that Intel acquired antivirus software maker company, McAfee back in August 2010 for $7.7 billion. At CES 2014 today, Intel CEO Brain Krzanich announced the rebranding of the antivirus software and change the name from McAfee Total Protection to Intel Security. It may take up to a year for the rebranding to be completed.

The new logo will include the trademark red shield, as Intel says it represents the core values of security and protection. Intel also clarified that the process will happen as new products are introduced for computers as well as mobile devices, including iPhone, iPad and Android gadgets.

Intel hasn’t told that why there was a need to change name, which has been there for more than 20 years. Its obvious that the reason is John McAfee, the controversial founder of company who was recently questioned in a murder investigation in Belize.

John McAfee, who really hates McAfee products posted a video of himself last year, shooting a laptop to show “How to uninstall McAfee software”. He told BBC that he is thrilled with this move and thanked Intel for freeing him from the shame to be associated with the "worst software" on the planet. He further clarified that these are not his words but the voice of millions of irate users.

M999-Z10 offer is available for postpaid customers who use M999 package. To avail the offer, Mobilink users can pay one year advance line rent on M999 package and buy their Z10 smartphone at a discounted price of Rs. 28,000 only. The offer is available at Mobilink Customer Care Centers across Pakistan and valid for both existing and new Mobilink postpaid customers.

* The BlackBerry Z10 smartphone is also available in the market for Rs. 32,000. So Mobilink is actually giving a discount of just Rs. 4,000 for paying advance line rent for whole year.

Corning is and illustrious name for smartphone users, their product “Gorilla Glass” is featured in almost all premium and mid-range smartphones as well as on tablets and interactive displays.

At CES this year, Corning showed off their next iteration of Gorilla Glass, which can get rid of the germs and bacteria on the touchscreen display. Dubbed as “world’s first antimicrobial cover glass”, the new Gorilla Glass has a built-in antimicrobial capability.

Just like the previous versions of Gorilla Glass the new one is also very durable and to some extent “scratch resistant”, but now it also has the ionic silver embedded within to fight off the growth of algae, fungi, mold, mildew and bacteria.

Corning made it clear that the new Antimicrobial Gorilla Glass is perfectly safe for humans and their pets and they’ve also got the EPA registration. It all sounds great but unfortunately the company didn’t give any timeline of when this new glass will be used in the smartphones or tablets.
