Google announces Android Wear, a special Operating System for wearables Posted: 18 Mar 2014 11:39 AM PDT It is evident that smartwatches are going to be the next big thing. Every major electronics company on the planet is moving towards wearables, so why not Google? the company which wants to dominate every thing technology. Today Google has announced Android Wear, a new project that extends Android to wearables. The company has released a video to show off the watch interface and its functions. Have a look at it: Android Wear uses a pretty similar interface as to Google Glass and it also takes voice commands, here is a list of some notable functions:
Google is already working with its current Android partners like LG, Motorola, Asus and Samsung on wearables. The first “Nexus” version of smartwatch by Google is in production with LG’s collaboration. The device will be called G Watch. Motorola has also announced its 360 smartwatch today which runs on Android Wear. There is no word on the pricing or availability of these smartwatches yet but we hope to get more information and see these watches in action at the upcoming Google I/O conference.
